What would a “modern monastery” for today’s world look like? This is our inquiry. The Monastic Academy is a unique blend of traditional monastery training meeting modern day technology and culture.

We aim to realize deep insight for the benefit of all living beings. We train trustworthy leaders embodying wisdom, love, and power through a community of honesty, love, and skillfulness. We invite you to visit this rare, loving, and powerful community that we are growing together.

We are located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont at 751 Page Road, Lowell VT 05847. The closest airport, Burlington International Airport, is about 90 minutes away. We run limited shuttles each week, primarily on Sundays. Our 123 acres are abundant with wildlife and boasts commanding views out over the Green Mountains with wonderful trails through the woods. Recharge and re-examine your life in this peaceful setting where the trees, the rains, the winds, the sun, the snows, the frogs, and the stars still speak.

 

Please review our schedule so that you can see what happens during our day-to-day. We ask that guests are punctual and arrive early for all activities that they attend. “Awakening” weeks are our group silent, week-long retreat that occur once/month. The other three weeks are “Responsibility” weeks.

We are a fragrance-free facility. Please prepare yourself before arrival by following our fragrance free guide. Let us know if you have any questions. It’s best to start the process of getting fragrances out of clothes and hair as soon as possible as it can take up to two weeks, depending on how fragranced they are.

If you are interested in long term training, consider our Apprenticeship program. Successful apprentices are invited to stay for full residency.

CoWorking Guest

  • Bring your own work and do it remotely from the monastery
  • Participate in the morning and evening meditation schedule, and work flexibly on your own projects during the day
  • One-on-one mindfulness training and support with the head teacher daily
  • Great for teams or individuals – take your whole team on a retreat and get even more done than in the office!

Service Guest

  • Stay at the monastery for any length of time that works for you

Bio-Emotive Retreat

Circling Retreat

Wild Immersion

August 30 – September 3, 2019

Join Darren Silver for an immersion into nature and into personal vision. Through wilderness living skills, ritual, leadership, mythology, and rites of passage training we will enrich the ground of your deeper purpose and calling to become clearer and a guiding voice in your life.
