Maple Seeds

In the summer of 2016, Soryu Forall presented a new meditation technique, now known as the Jade Method. With this technique, you will learn to align your posture, your mind, and your breath; to rouse heroic motivations; and to walk the path to Awakening. Maple Seeds describes this technique and a conceptual framework for practicing it, through detailed transcripts of talks and guided meditations that Forall gave to present this technique.

Author Information

Tasshin Fogleman lives in Vermont, where he trains under Soryu Forall at the Monastic Academy for the Preservation of Life on Earth (MAPLE).

Soryu Forall is the head teacher at MAPLE. He teaches a form of Shinzen Young’s Unified Mindfulness designed for intensive monastic practice. He trained in several traditions, and is grateful for them all: to the Society of Friends for the ethics and confusion needed to search, to Rinzai Zen Buddhism for giving him his life and taking it away, to Ambedkar Buddhism for teaching him to risk his life, and to ceremonies of the Lakota peoples for healing his heart.
